CommentBrookesia dentata and Brookesia ramanantsoai have been synonymized by RAXWORTHY & NUSSBAUM 1995. However, the species are clearly different (F. GLAW, pers. comm. 21 Feb 2010 and GLAW & VENCES, field guide).

This species is known from only one specimen. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin dens (dentis > dent), tooth; -atus/a/um, adjectival suffix: toothed, denoting the dentate scalation of this species as compared with the related B. tuberculata (Charles Klaver, pers. comm., 11 Jan 2023).
