Behavior: generally docile, non-aggressive (Stuebing & Inger 1999: 194)

Similar species: Bungarus flaviceps.

Distribution: bivirgata: In Myanmar fide Dowling & Jenner 1988 but probably not in Myanmar fide LEVITON et al. 2003. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “virgata” = branches, either referring to the pair of light stripes on the sides, or perhaps to the pattern of specimens from Java, which have a conspicuous light Y-shaped mark on the top rear of the head (Stuebing & Inger 1999: 193).
