| Etymology | Named after the Latin word for “fork bearing”. Note that this species needs to be called furcifer because of a special rule in the “code” according to which epithets that end in -fer and -ger need to be treated as nouns, unless the author explicitely states something else (LUTZMANN, pers. comm.). |
