Etymology | Named after Dr. Philip Jackson Darlington Jr. (1904-1983), an evolutionary biologist, zoogeographer, and beetle taxonomist. The genus name (Caribicus gen. nov.) is a masculine noun derived from the name for the region (Caribbean) in which it occurs and the suffix -icus (“belonging to”). |
