Comment | Terra typica: “Ile de France” (probably in error, fide GREER 1976) ZUG (2004) specifically excluded C. peronii from his analysis until further data becomes available. |
Etymology | Named after François Peron (1775-1810), a French voyager and naturalist. He was a member of Baudin's scientific expedition with the ships Geographe and Naturaliste (1800-1804), which visited New Holland (Australia), Van Diemen's Land (now Tasmania), and Timor, Indonesia. |
