Elevation: 300–1800 m (DOAN & LAMAR 2012).

Type locality: Canelos and Pallatanga, Ecuador.

Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy and subspecies after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970.

Subspecies: Cercosaura manicata bolivianus is not closely related to Cercosaura but rather a sister clade of Potamites. Mamani et al. 2020 propose to maintain the name “Cercosaura manicata boliviana” as incertae sedis (unknown status). Mamani et al. 2022 still used the name but left it’s affiliation open. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin manicata, having long sleeves [“...Another isolated white patch is seen on the fore part of the upper arm, near the body...”]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
