DistributionEcuador, Peru, Bolivia (Beni, Cochabamba, La Paz), Colombia (Nariño:San Juan de Pasto; Chachaui; Funes; Cauca: Bolivar above 1500 m [pers. comm., F. Castro, 22 Jan 2019])

Elevation: 300–1800 m (DOAN & LAMAR 2012).

Type locality: Canelos and Pallatanga, Ecuador.

CommentSynonymy and subspecies after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970.

Subspecies: Cercosaura manicata bolivianus is not closely related to Cercosaura but rather a sister clade of Potamites. Mamani et al. 2020 propose to maintain the name “Cercosaura manicata boliviana” as incertae sedis (unknown status).
