Type locality: Near Blackrock on the east coast of Great Abaco Island, Bahama Islands.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyThe Latin exsul means "a banished person" or an "exile", and apparently refers to the isolated range of this form.
