Comment	Similar species: Clelia equatoriana is often confounded with Clelia clelia. However, Clelia equatoriana has dorsal scale in 17 rows at midbody vs 19 in Clelia clelia (Peters & Orejas-Miranda 1970). Distribution: scattered records only in Costa Rica and Panama. Type species: Barbourina equatoriana AMARAL 1924: 201 is the type species of the genus Barbourina AMARAL 1924, now a synonym of Clelia.
