Diagnosis | Diagnosis Cnemaspis amith differs from its peninsular Indian and Sri Lankan congeners by a combination of the following characters. Maximum SVL 33.0 mm; paired postmentals separated by a medial scale; each postmental bounded by 2 scales; ventrals, 123–131; dorsal scales homogeneous, granular unkeeled, with enlarged tubercles; 5 spine-like tubercles on flanks; gular scales carinate, pectoral and abdominal scales smooth; 3 preanal pores and 3 femoral pores on each side; subcaudals with a median series of smooth, enlarged scales; supralabials to angle of jaws, 8; lamellae under digit IV of pes, 18 or 19. Comment | Abundance: only known from its original description (Meiri et al. 2017). This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. |
Etymology | The species-name is a patronym applied as a noun in apposition, honouring the late Dr Amith Munindradasa, co-author of Wickramasinghe & Munindradasa (2007). |
