Type locality: “Narcondum”, Andaman Archipelago (India), Bay of Bengal.

DiagnosisDiagnosis: Cnemaspis andersonii differs from its peninsular Indian and Sri Lankan congeners by a combination of the following characters. Maximum SVL 31.5 mm; paired postmentals separated by a medial scale; each postmental bounded by 3 scales including medial scale; dorsal scales heterogeneous; gulars carinate; other ventrals smooth, imbricate; supralabials to angle of jaws, 7; preanal pores 3, femoral pores 4 on each side; no median series of enlarged subcaudals (Manamendra-Arachchi et al. 2007).

Colouration in life: Overall dorsal colouration variable from light to dark brown, with or without a creamy yellow, broken vertebral stripe running through the middorsum till the sacral region. Intensity of the pattern on the body variable. Venter uniform creamy white without any distinct pattern. Tail feebly annulated. Two dark post -ocular stripes converging behind the head and a feeble inter-orbital stipe present. Limbs with dark bars. Intensity of pattern variable (Chandramouli 2020). 
CommentAbundance: only known from the type locality (Meiri et al. 2017).

EtymologyApparently named after Major A.R. Anderson, I,M.S. who presented the specimen to the Indian Museum.
