CommentSimilar to E. erythrura. Synonyms after DAVID & VOGEL 1996. Has been reported from the Nicobar Islands but is not listed by DAS 1999 for the Nicobar Islands. The report from Pulau Tioman remains unconfirmed (fide HIEN et al. 2001).

Coluber melanurus var. timoriensis FERREIRA 1897 could be Coelognathus subradiata or C. flavolineatus. Unfortunately the specimens used by Ferreira are not available anymore, so the question will remain unsolved (H. Kaiser, pers. comm.). 
EtymologyNamed after the yellow line on the back of this species, from Latin flavus = yellow, and linea = line.
