CommentType species: Compsophis albiventris MOCQUARD 1894: 8 is the type species of the genus Compsophis MOCQUARD 1894.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin “albus, -a, -um” = white and “venter” = belly or stomach.

The genus was apparently named after Greek kompsos = elegant, pretty, and Greek ophis, (ὄφις), a serpent, snake.
