sarae: Mexico (Michoacán); Type locality: Near Tehuantepec, municipality of Chinicuila (18° 42' 07.7" N, 103° 18' 22.3" W), 1390 m elevation, Michoacán.

Diagnosis 
CommentSubspecies: Coniophanes lateritius melanocephalus (PETERS 1869) has been elevated to full species status.

Synonymy: Palacios-Aguilar & Flores-Villela 2020 synonymized C. sarae with C. lateritius.

EtymologyNamed after Latin latericius, made of bricks. [“...The whole body was bright vermillion punctulated with brown, passing through orange to golden on the belly...”].
