CommentVenomous!

Synonymy partly after PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970. Thales de Lema (pers. comm.) suggested that the only known specimen of A. coronata is actually an anomalous A. lepidus (de LEMA & DEIQUES 1995) or A. nigrolineata (ALBUQUERQUE, pers. comm., 30 May 2012).

Type species: Elapomorphus lepidus REINHARDT 1861: 239 is the type species of the genus Coronelaps LEMA & HOFSTADLER-DEIQUES 2010.
EtymologyNamed after Latin lepidus, pleasant, agreeable, charming, fine, elegant, neat (Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)

The genus was named after Latin corona, a garland, chaplet, wreath + Greek elaps (ἔλαψ), from Greek ἔλλοψ, a fish or snake.
