CommentC. novohebridicus has been removed from the synonymy of C. novocaledonicus. Bauer & Sadlier (2000) consider the latter to be endemic to New Caledonia. Reports for Vanuatu or the New Hebrides may be based on older records when C. novocaledonicus was still considered as a subspecies of C. boutonii.

Abundance: Common where it is found.

Habitat: saxicolous, coastal.
EtymologyNamed after the type locality.
