CommentC. rutilus was included in the synonymy of Ablepharus boutonii virgatus (= Cryptoblepharus virgatus) by MERTENS 1931: 112. 
EtymologyApparently named after Latin rutilus = red, golden red, reddish yellow, after the metallic-bronze, light brown ground colour.
