Type locality: Port Lincoln, South Australia (original description cites "coast of the mainland", South Australia, fide COGGER 1983).

Diagnosis 
CommentHabitat: saxicolous.

EtymologyThe origin of the name is largely obscure as Procter did not explain it. Beolens et al. speculate that it refers to a person named “Fionn” who is mentioned in (unpublished) letters of the author.
