Diagnosis 
CommentSynonymy modified after COGGER 1983 and Hutchinson et al. 2006.

Abundance: not uncommon, with more than 200 specimens collected (Pianka 2011)

Subspecies: Ctenotus brooksi euclae STORR 1971 is now treated as valid species. Ctenotus brooksi aranda and C. b. iridis were synonymized with C. taeniatus by Hutchinson et al. 2006.

Limb morphology: 5 digits, 5 toes (Singhal et al. 2018, Cogger 2014)

Diet: a large percentage of the diet of this species (10-30%) consists of ants (Lucas et al. 2023). 
EtymologyNamed after Winthrop Sprague Brooks (1887-1965), a collector and zoologist who collected the holotype.
