DiagnosisDiagnosis: A medium-sized species of Gonydactylus with an adult body size of 54-82 mm in SVL; no prenal groove; femoral pores and enlarged femoral scales absent; preanal pores 0-8, forming angular series in males; dorsal surface of the body with fine granules intermixed with small tubercles not arranged into regular rows; scale rows between indistinct ventrolateral folds 32-38; tail not segmented; trans versely widened subcaudal scales absent; dark irregular spots or bands on the dorsum present; tail longer than a snout-vent length; the hind-limbs not reaching the axilla (Darevsky et al. 1997).

CommentAuthorship: note that one of the authors was misspelled on the original paper as “Helfeberger” instead of Helfenberger. 
EtymologyNamed after Martin Stoll (b.1956), a Swiss photographer, IT specialist, and naturalist. Stoll supported the expedition to Nepal during the holotype was collected.
