Type locality: along the forest edge at Tenggol Island Resort (N 04° 48 ′ 36.4 ″ E 103° 40′ 48.3″, 9 m elevation), Pulau Tenggol, Terengganu, Malaysia

thochuensis (synonymy): SW Vietnam (Kien Giang: Tho Chu Island); Type locality: Tho Chu Island, Phu Quoc district, Kien Giang Biosphere Reserve, Kien Giang Province, southwestern Vietnam; 9°18’56’’N 103°28’53’’E, at ~80 m elevation.  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesHolotype: UKMHC 545, adult male, collected by Chan Kin Onn at 2300 hrs, 20 June 2009. Paratypes. All paratypes (UKMHC 515, 517, 526, 535, 551) were collected at the same locality and on the same date as the holotype between 2200 and 2400 hrs.
Holotype: ITBCZ 2300, adult male collected by Ngo Van Tri at 19:25 on 15 August, 2009. Paratypes. ITBCZ 2301–2306 collected by Ngo Van Tri at 20:00, from the same locality and the same date as the holotype. ITBCZ 2205 and 2206 were collected by Ngo Van Tri at 18:46 on 20 July 2008 at the same locality as the holotype. [thochuensis] 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Cyrtodactylus leegrismeri is distinguished from all other congeners by having a maximum SVL of 92 mm; conical, keeled, tubercles occurring on the occiput, body, hind limbs, and beyond base of tail; no enlarged tubercles on forelimbs; 18–19 longitudinal tubercle rows at midbody; 27–35 ventral scales at midbody; single row of transversely enlarged, median subcaudal scales; subdigital lamellae transversely expanded; 18–20 subdigital lamellae on fourth toe; abrupt transition between posterior and ventral femoral scales; four precloacal pores arranged in an arch; single row of enlarged, non pore-bearing, femoral scales beneath each thigh which are not continuous with precloacal pores; precloacal groove absent, precloacal depression present; weak reticulations on head (adults); dark, indistinct symmetrical blotches on body.

CommentSynonymy: Grismer et al. 2015 synonymized C. thochuensis with Cyrtodactylus leegrismeri.

NCBI taxonID: 2022455 [thochuensis]

Note the author names are cited this way based on their citation in Grismer et al. 2010 (Zootaxa 2625: 49) despite the fact that the paper says “CHAN KIN ONN & NORHAYATI AHMAD”.

Abundance: Both leegrismeri and thochuensis were only known from their original description (Meiri et al. 2017), but with the synonymization of thochuensis it’s known from at least one other locality.

Etymology: thochuensis is derived from Tho Chu Island, the type locality. 
EtymologyThe specific epithet leegrismeri honors L. Lee Grismer for his contributions to the study of herpetology in Peninsular Malaysia.
