Type species: Gymnodactylus triedrus GÜNTHER 1864 is the type species of the genus Geckoella GRAY 1867.

Synonymy: Wood et al. 2012 synonymized Geckoella with Cyrtodactylus, suggesting to maintain Geckoella as subgenus.
