paradoxus (synonym): Vietnam (Kieng Giang, Phu Quoc Island, Hon Thom Isle); Type locality: Hon Thom Isle near south point of Phu Quoc Island, Kieng Giang Province, South Vietnam.

DiagnosisDiagnosis (paradoxus): “A medium-sized species of Gonydactylus (= Cyrtodactylus) with an adult body size of 45 – 80 mm in SVL; no preanal groove, no preanal and femoral pores in male or female, enlarged femoral scales distinct; 26 – 36 mid-ventral scale rows between indistinct lateral folds; 17 – 23 subdigital lamellae under fourth toe; a median series of transversely widened subcaudal scales; irregular crossbands on the dorsum. All type specimens are known only from Hon Tom Isle, Phu Quoc Island in South Vietnam.” (after Darevsky and Szczerbak, 1997) 
CommentSynonymy: Grismer et al. (2015) synonymized C. paradoxus with C. condorensis.

NCBI taxon ID: 752000 [paradoxus]

Etymology: C. paradoxus was named from the Greek “paradoxus” (= unusual, strange), referring to the lack of femoral and preanal pores.
