Etymology | Named after Indonesian Tehetehe (tehe-tehe), a traditional dish from the Derawan Islands, made from white glutinous rice mixed with coconut milk with a little salt, all placed inside a sea urchin shell (Echinoidea spp) and cooked for 30 minutes. Wiradarma et al. want to raise awareness of Indonesia’s culinary and reptile diversity to the rest of the world, as this island is being transformed into an important tourist destination. |
