Type locality: Dalakan, Guinea (9°58’N, 9°32’W)  
Reproductionoviparous (not imputed, fide Zimin et al. 2022) 
TypesHolotype: MNHN-RA 2010.0438 (formerly IRD 1555-G), collected between June and October 2005, by a villager who gave it to JF Trape; paratypes: IRSNB and MNHN-RA 2010.0439 (3 paratype specimens at MNHN-RA according to original description). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: The genetic results and the following characters: nasal entire, dark rhombic pattern with the pigment uniformly distributed on scales and the lateral bars alternating with the dorsal saddles (‘‘not-linked scabra’’ pattern of Gans [1]). Head with two transversal black bars between the nasals and the eyes, and two or three V shaped black bars on the back of the head and the nape.

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyThe name of the new species refers to its close resemblance to D. scabra.
