TypesLectotype. BMNH 1946.1.6.58, obtained by A.S. Meek in Trobriand Islands, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea, designated herein. Paralectotypes. BMNH 1946.1.6.57, 1946.1.6.59–61, same data as lectotype.

CommentSynonymy: Kraus 2025 split Dendrelaphis papuensis into 4 species, D. papuensis, D. melanarkys, D. anthracina, and D. roseni.

Behavior: diurnal

Habitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018)
