Type locality: Volcanes, Municipio de Caparrapi, Cundinamarca, Colombia, elevation 250 m.  
Reproductionoviparous 
TypesHolotype: ICN-MHN, a 252 mm (SVL) female (J. Boshell M., Oct. 1943). 
DiagnosisDIAGNOSIs: A Dendrophidion with 15-15 dorsals; keels on all dorsals except lower three rows; 142 ventrals; markings a double row of dots on each side of middorsal line. (Dunn 1944)

CommentVery rare species, known from only ~7 specimen

Habitat: partly arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018).

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after Dr. Jorge Boshell-Manrique, a physician and epidemiologist who became Director of the Instituto Samper Martinez. He was Director of the School of Hygiene, Bogota, Colombia (1950S) and a keen amateur zoologist.
