Type locality: Tung River, Western Szechuan [= Sichuan], ca. 30.6006° 101.4621° (WGS84)  
TypesHolotype: MCZ R-12469 
CommentDistribution: reports from Gansu, Shenxi (Shaanxi), Shanxi and possibly Qinghai are misidentifications of D. micangshanense (Wang et al. 2019). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin flavus = yellow and “ceps” = head, although the head is not really yellow but has white and yellowish speckles.
