Type locality: unknown (fide KUHL as cited in PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970).

EtymologyNamed after Greek monos (μόνος), alone, solitary + Greek tropis (τρόπις), keel. [“...Die Rücken- und Schwanzschuppen sind gestreift und mit einer einzigen, mittleren Carina versehen, die der Bauchseite ganz glatt...“]. (from Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., May 2024)
