Diagnosis | Diagnosis: A West African (Sierra Leone to Gabon) form of Dipsadoboa which predominantly occurs in lowland rain forest, and which has the following character combination: ventrals 178-202 and 177-199, males and females, respectively; subcaudals single, 71-87 and 72-84, in males and females, respectively; juveniles with a characteristic pattern of up to 62 brown to dark brown cross bands on a pale ground colour from nape to basis of tail; in larger specimens the bands gradually disappear from behind, the specimens eventually becoming uniform warm brown to black-brown; anal glands extend to subcaudals no. 4-6, and 4-7, in males and females, respectively.
