TypesSyntypes: MNHN-RA 0435 (1), four syntypes in RMNH (Netherlands), cited as “Musée des Pays-Bas” 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Dipsas pavonina may be distinguished from all congeners by the following combination of characters: (1) dorsals 13 without reduction; (2) postoculars excluding temporals from orbit; (3) one pair of infralabials in contact behind mental; (4) infralabials broadly contacting second and third pairs of chinshields; sublabials separating infralabials from preventrals and ventrals; (5) loreal square to much higher than long, entering orbit; (6) preocular present above loreal, excluding prefrontal from orbit; (7) dorsal surface of head black with cream prefrontal band; (8) supralabials cream with brownish black subocular band extending onto ventral surface of head; (9) nuchal collar cream; first blotch not reaching rictus and separated from parietals by about 5 vertebrals; (10) dorsal body light pink to tan with long black bands edged narrowly in cream; bands becoming saddles on posterior body; (11) dorsal bands complete ventrally on anterior body only; (12) interspaces usually immaculate, occasionally with small dark brown spots; accessory blotches absent; (13) venter cream anteriorly grading to same color as interspaces; few small brown spots edged in cream present, generally not forming pattern of lines; (14) ventrals 203–211 in males, 190–200 in females; (15) subcaudals 119–131 in males and 101–122 in females; (16) maxillary teeth 18–22 (HARVEY & EMBERT 2008: 78). 
CommentHabitat: fully arboreal (Harrington et al. 2018). 
EtymologyNamed after Latin pāvōnīna (inflection of pāvōnīnus), from pāvō (“peacock”), in reference to species' resemblence in coloring of a peacock feather.
