Holotype: not in BMNH (P. Campbell, pers. comm., 7 July 2014). 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Gular pouch in males only slightly widened distally; dorsals 146-174; hindlimbs 0.92-1.08 times the distance between the limbs; tail length 1.83-2.00 times the snout-vent length; chin with large light yellowish spots, making a reticulated impression (Musters 1983: 66).

CommentSubspecies: Draco obscurus formosus BOULENGER 1900 has been elevated to full species status.
