Synonymy partly after COGGER 1983. COVENTRY & RAWLINSON 1980 removed Pseudelaps minutus from synonymy with Drysdalia mastersii. 
EtymologyApparently named after Greek rhodon (ῥόδον) (a rose, hence red) and gaster (belly), in allusion to the reddish venter of the species.
