Type locality: "Brasilen." Emended to Parahyba (=Paráiba), Brazil by Wied-Neuwied, 1825c: 332.

CommentSynonymy: Enicognathus taeniolatus JAN 1863 has been synonymized with Liophis undulatus by PETERS & OREJAS-MIRANDA 1970, but is considered to be synonymous with Echinanthera brevirostris (fide Di Bernardo 1992).

Distribution: Not listed for French Guiana by STARACE 1998, nor for Guyana (Cole et al. 2013). See map in Nogueira et al. 2019. 
EtymologyNamed after Latin undulatus, that has a wave-like form or edge. (Esteban Lavilla, pers. comm., April 2024)
