CommentApparently not listed in the Zoological Record of 1918-1919. SCHMIDTLER & SCHMIDTLER 1978 give 1917 as the year of description.

Phylogenetics: Closely related to E. modestus cilicius and molecularly nested within E. modestus (NAGY et al. 2004).

EtymologyNamed after the Latin adjective aureus = "golden" and Latin linea = line, stripe, for the golden yellow zones between the dark pattern on the head and neck, especially in juveniles.
