Reproduction	oviparous
Types	Holotype: AMS (AM) R31861 (formerly MAMU R75, MR518), Hall Sound, New Guinea. Described from a single specimen, but this specimen treated as lectotype by Brown (1991), who discusses the issue of the identity of the primary type.

Etymology	Presumably from the Latin sub (somewhat) plus metallica (metallic), and in reference to the metallic color: "colour, above, bronzy green, …... beneath greenish white" (Macleay, 1877).
