DistributionIndonesia (Komodo, Padar, Rintja; Flores [fide SMITH 1937], Lombok)

Type locality: Komodo, 500-1500 feet elevation.

kardarsani: Komodo and Padar.
Reproductionoviparous
TypesHolotype: AMNH 31977
Holotype: SMF 22091 [sembalunicum]
Holotype: MZB Lace; Paratypes: ZISP 17607.1–19 (19 specimens), “Rintja Island in the Lesser Sundas Archipelago” [Rinca Island, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia]. Leg.: I.S. Darevsky, 10.VIII.1962 [rintjana]
Holotype is MZB Lace.976 from “Komodo Island” (Iskandar & Mumpuni 2002); Paratypes: ZISP 17599.1-14 (14 specimens), “Komodo Island in the Lesser Sundas Archipelago” [Komodo Island, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia]. Leg.: I.S. Darevsky, 2.VIII.1962 [Leiolopisma kadarsani]
Holotype: ZISP 17605, adult male, “Padar Island in the Lesser Sundas Archipelago” [Padar Island, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia]. Leg.: I.S. Darevsky, 8.VIII.1962.
Paratypes: ZISP 17606.1–2 (two specimens), “Padar Island in the Lesser Sundas Archipelago” [Padar Island, West Manggarai Regency, East Nusa Tengarra, Indonesia]. Leg.: I.S. Darevsky, 8.VIII.1962. Iskandar & Mumpuni (2002) incorrectly cited MZB Lace.978, a female from “Komodo Island” as a holotype. [padariensis]
DiagnosisDIAGNOSIS. An Emoia with short legs, barely meeting when appressed; inter- parietal fused; frontal longer than prefrontal; 22 lamelae under fourth toe; 28 smooth scales around body; allied to cyanurum and kordoanum but with shorter legs (Dunn 1927: 9).

Comparisons: close to Emoia lessonii (kordoanum) and to E. cyanurum. Its color is exactly that of cyanurum (cf.Sternfeld,1920: 407 and Parker,1925: 298), while in lessonii the mid-dorsal stripe stops at the base of the tail. It has shorter limbs than either with fewer sub-digital lamelae, 22 as against the 33-51 of lessonii or the 56-80 of cyanurum, and the preanals are enlarged (Dunn 1927: 10).
Comment
EtymologyDunn doesn’t give an etymology but the species is likely named after its similarity to E. lessonii (= E. cyanura) and E. kordoana.
Leiolopisma kadarsani was named after Sampurno Kadarsan (1929–2010), director of the Bogor Zoology Museum (Indonesia), in 1962 together with I.S. Darevsky he participated in the expedition to Lesser Sundas Archipelago.
Leiolopisma kadarsani padariensis and L. k. rintjana were named after their type localities.
