TypesNeotype: NMW 13894, from “Muriti dist.”; Holotype was AMNH 13894, but now lost (ETHERIDGE 1968) 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: JACKSON 1978: 21 
CommentSynonymy: JACKSON (1978) suggested that E. bibronii, E. pictus and E. catenatus were intergrading subspecies of on species. Synonymy partly after PETERS & DONOSO-BARROS 1970, ETHERIDGE 1969. The author of this species is SCHINZ 1822, not WIED 1823 (or 1825) fide MYERS et al. 2011.
