Habitat: marine.

Type species: Ephalophis greyi SMITH 1931: 397 is the type species of the genus Ephalophis SMITH 1931. 
EtymologyShea (1996) notes that the specifc name of the only species of the genus should be spelled greyae, not greyi. Since the species had been named in honour of a Mrs. Beatrice Grey, the specific name must bear the feminine ending.
