Comment | Authorship: in the original (Russian) paper the authors spelled themselves “Jeriomtschenko et Panfilov” (in English). The first author has also been cited as YERIOMCHENKO, EREMCHENKO, or JERJOMTSCHENKO. We use the spelling “JEREMČENKO” to consolidate these spelling variants. Similarly, Panfilov has been cited as “Panfilow” but we use only Panfilov in author citations. |
Etymology | named after Nikolai Nikolaevich Szczerbak (1927-1998), Ukrainian herpetologist who was arrested by the NKVD (Secret Police) and imprisoned in the Gulag (1948-1954). See Adler 1999 for more details. |
