Type locality: Boracéia, São Paulo, Brazil (28° 38’ S, 45° 50’ W), elevation 900 m.

Paratypes. MZUSP 4480, 6426, female topotypes, collector and date unknown for 4480; 6426 collected by W. R. Heyer, 21 January 1977. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: The new species differs from all other species of Liophis by having the combination of 19-19-17 scale rows, uniform olive brown dorsum, and a black venter. (Dixon & Thomas 1985)
