Type locality: Huilla Plateau, Mossamedes, Angola.  
TypesHolotype: lost, was MB (Museu Bocage) specimen number unnkown (collector J.A. d’Anchieta) destroyed by fire 18 March 1978.
Holotype: MD 6002 (collector A. Serralheiro) [major]
Holotype: IRSNB type 2.407; Paratypes in ZFMK, IRSNB, RMNH and CM [wittei] 
CommentType species: Eumecia anchietae BOCAGE 1870 is the type species of the genus Eumecia BOCAGE 1870.

Limb morphology: Reduced limbs. 
EtymologyNamed after José de Anchieta (9 Oct 1832 -14 Sep 1897), Portugese explorer of Africa.
