Etymology | Named after Dominique Campan, a French resident of Madagascar (according to Beolens et al. 2011). However, it’s more likely that the species was named after Albert Campan, Grandidier's nephew who worked with Grandidier: "Pour le seconder, Jean Laborde fait venir d'Auch son neveu Albert Campan en tant que secrétaire. Il participe à l'élaboration de la première carte topographique à l'échelle 1/200 000e de l'Emyrne centrale que réalise Alfred Grandidier." |
