Type locality: “Deutsch-Ostafrika”, probably Tanga, Tanzania.
Type locality: Amani, Usambara Mts. Tanzania [Bedriagaia moreaui]

DiagnosisDiagnosis: for a table with diagnostic characters of G. vittata and G. prasina see Arnold 1989: 527. 
CommentDistribution: BOULENGER (1921) gave the type locality as “Usambara”.

Synonymy: Gastropholis prasina Werner, 1904 was synonymized with G. vittata Fischer, 1886 by Boulenger (1921) but examination of the types and other material of these two forms shows they are in fact perfectly distinct (Arnold 1989). 
EtymologyNamed after Greek “prasinos” = green.
