Diagnosis | Diagnosis: This new subspecies has less ventrals (148-158, mean 153.11) and less counts of ventrals plus subcaudals (188-201, mean 194.03) than those of the nominate subspecies [saxatilis]. (Li 1999) |
Comment | Conservation: one of the 30 most endangered viper species (Maritz et al. 2016). Synonymy: Simonov et al. 2017 suggested (in an SEH conference abstract) to synonymize Gloydius lijianlii with G. changdaoensis, which was reiterated by Asadi et al. 2019 (without further support). Hence the validity of Gloydius lijianlii is uncertain at this point. |
