Type locality: Huangbaiyuan Xiang (33°45' N, 107° E), Ttaibai Co., Shaanxi Prov., China; 1,500 meters elevation.

TypesHolotype: SIZ 840001 (Shaanxi Institute of Zoology, Xian), paratypes: SIZ (13 males, 15 females, no catalog number given), allotype NWU 840128, but types unlocated fide McDiarmid et al. 1999: 308. 
DiagnosisDiagnosis: Head ovoid shape, tweenty one rows of dorsal scales in middle of body, ventrals and subcaudals 191-224 (average 211.9), dorsum light rufous, with irregulith [sic] dark rufous shaped markings. Other distinguishable characters are given in Table 1. (Song & Chen 1985)
