TypesHolotype: MNHN-RA 2885A; but other specimens indicated as syntypes: MNHN-RA 2881A-B, MNHN-RA 2882, MNHN-RA 2884, MNHN-RA 2886, MNHN-RA 2886A, MNHN-RA 7065, MNHN-RA 7065A. Original description gives type as MP A2885. 
Diagnosis 
CommentConservation: G. b. borbonicus was last reported from Réunion in 1839. The disappearance of these subspecies of Gongylomorphus from such large islands may be attributable to the accidental introduction of the southeast Asian wolf snake, Lycodon aulicus capucinus Linnaeus, 1758 (Jones, 1993).
