Type species: Scelotes fierinensis GRANDIDIER 1869: 340 is the type species of the genus Grandidierina MOCQUARD 1894, as designated by Brygoo 1981. Etymology | Probably named after the historical collecting locality near Toliara in the South West of Madagascar, likely related to the Fiherenana River. The genus is named after Alfred Grandidier (1836-1921), French explorer, geographer, and ornithologist who collected in Madagascar (1865). |
