Type locality: Central Borneo, probably Kapoeas area.  
Reproductionovoviviparous 
TypesHolotype: SMNS 4596, adult female. Moody (1984) considered the holotype of Hylagama borneensis as lost and (erroneously) designated FMNH 138196 erroneously as a lectotype (must be neotype) to replace the lost holotype (designation invalid as holotype still extant).
Holotype: adult male, FMNH 131540; adult female, paratype, FMNH 138196 [thescelorhinos] 
Diagnosis 
CommentMANTHEY & SCHUSTER 1999 note that there are no external differences to Harpesaurus but they still list this species as Hylagama.

Abundance: Rare. This is one of the species called 'lost' and 'rediscovered' by Lindken et al. 2024. 
EtymologyNamed after its distribution on Borneo (Indonesia).
