CommentDistribution: Presence in the Central African Republic has not been confirmed. Not in Gabon fide PAUWELS & VANDE WEGHE 2008 (records of this species from Gabon may represent H. muriceus). 
EtymologyNamed after Greek ἐχῖνος, echinos (hedgehog or urchin) for the “series of prickles or short spines along the side of the body”.
